Flight operation rules

The general flight operation rules and the French aviation laws must be observed!
There is a special newcomer briefing for all new pilots in Puimoisson on the first flight day.
Please note the airfield overview in the briefing room and on the terrace!

Ground traffic/transport:

Only use the asphalt taxiway to bring your aircraft to the take-off area.
Stay on asphalt as much as possible.
Avoid driving on grass as much as possible – Provence is very dry and grass grows poorly.
Motorized aircraft and gliders have priority, regardless of whether they are pushed by hand, pulled by a car or taxiing under their own power.
To protect the grass, vehicles crossing the runway always swerve only slightly to the right. In this way, the left wheels remain on asphalt and the right wheels only drive briefly on grass.
It is not permitted to pull aircraft on the runway for take-off.
Maximum speed at the airfield is 10 km/h, at the campsite 5 km/h
Stop when crossing 16/34 and make sure that the runway is clear and that nobody is taking off or landing.
Whether you are driving or walking, always cross runway 07/25 as far east as possible, as close to the road as possible. Watch out for approaching airplanes!

Aircraft parking

Please park your aircraft only in the parking areas indicated on the airfield map. If you cannot decide, please ask the chief pilot.
Aircraft, trailers and cars may only be parked behind the concrete markings, at least 15 m outside the runway or from the middle of the taxiway.
The area in front of the restaurant is reserved for open class aircraft with a wingspan of more than 24 m

Starting grid for F-tow on runway 25

Position the airplanes in 2 rows, as close together as possible, behind the threshold 25L.
Because of the slope, you must place a stone or wedge in front of the wheel or apply the parking brake.
If the crosswind component exceeds 20 knots, take-off on the 26 is prohibited!
Ground transportation, parking and take-off formation for runway 16
A special briefing is held during flight operations on runway 34.
Check the approach when you bring your airplane to the start of the 16.
The 16 must not be used during take-off and landing operations.
Take special care on the taxiway when crossing runway 16/34 during take-off and landing operations!
Limited space at the start of runway 16. Park your aircraft near the east side of the runway. The tow rope is dropped, please always keep the drop zone clear.
Self-launch on runway 16 is not recommended for aircraft with weak engines such as ASW 24e, DG 600m and early models of the ASH 25.

Self-launch runway 34

Check the obstacle clearance on the runway and taxiway as well as the approach and departure along 08/26
Spark on taxi up: e.g. ” Puimoisson, DG 800, D- KISS, lining up runway 16″ . Then: ” Puimoisson, DG 800, D-KISS, taking off runway 16″
Expect turbulence during take-off and departure at the end of the runway
If the headwind component is less than 15 knots, take-off on runway 16 is not permitted.

Landing

Never fly the last turn below 100m agl. Lower turns will result in a take-off ban for one or more days.
If you are low, you can land on any other runway, the decision is yours.
Radio message: e.g: ” Puimoisson, OE-1234, low, landing on runway 16, request priority”
All surrounding fields are good for landing, if you are very low, it is better to land next to the airfield.
Lavender fields are good for landing (even if they don’t look like it), land along or at right angles to the rows.
No cramp turns near the ground!
Attention: Landing against each other is prohibited on all runways!
Only left-hand circles in the descent zone above the village of Puimoisson
Radio message of your intention: e.g.: “Puimoisson, LS8, F-ABCD, descending aerea, 1500 m, for landing ( as number 3)”
Lower aircraft have priority
Landings on runway 25 have priority
Approach at 1000m or higher. Example radio message: “Puimoisson, LS8 F-ABCD, downwind 26, gear down and locked ( number 1 in sight )”. Check the windsock!
Also report the cross and final approach in heavy traffic or when it gets tight with others.
Exceptional landing on 07
Example radio message in the descent area above the town: “Puimoisson, LS6, HB 1234, descending aerea, 1300 m, for landing 07 R, (other traffic in sight)”
Final approach, example: ” Puimoisson, LS6, HB-1234, long final 07R, gear down and locked”
Expect a short roll-out due to the ascending runway.
Leave the runway as quickly as possible to the right, heading south.

In the air

Circle only to the left in the airfield area, keep listening watch on frequency 123.5 Frequency change after departure
Never fly over the airfield area below 1400 m msl, except during take-off and landing.

Landing runway 34

In the sink area, report that you are landing on the 34. Check the windsock
In very strong winds: follow the edge of the slope of the Colostre valley and make sure that you fly over the road at the start of the runway at an altitude of more than 15 m / 50 ft, preferably more. Watch out for road traffic.
Just in case: the fields in the valley and in the vicinity of the runway are easy to land.
Plan your approach and landing in relation to the wind speed. Runway 34 is only 530 m long!
Pay attention to cross traffic on runway 08/26 and to obstacle clearance also on the taxiway
Expect turbulence on approach
Leave the runway as quickly as possible.

Landing runway 16

In the sink area, report that you are landing on the 16. Check the windsock!
In very strong winds: follow the edge of the slope of the Réme valley.
Plan your approach and landing in relation to the wind speed. Runway 16 is only 530 m long!
Pay attention to cross traffic on runway 08/26 and to obstacle clearance also on the taxiway
Expect turbulence on approach
Leave the runway as quickly as possible
